Fenway's Green Monster

When thinking of a topic for this sighting, I let my mind wonder and it quickly ended up at the same place any baseball fan would be found, Fenway Park. However my sighting is not on the actual park, but on something that may be even more famous, the Green Monster. Growing up in a family of Red Sox fans, I spent many afternoons at Fenway watching righties struggle to reach over the monster’s immense height. When I was younger, I even had a favorite tee-shirt of the Green Monster reaching out and grabbing a ball that I would wear everywhere. So when I came to B.C. I naturally wanted to see a Red Sox game, but I was shocked to see how small the Green Monster was from how I remembered it. I had always thought it was a behemoth of five storey’s at least, but it turns out it is only 37 feet, not much bigger than the left field wall at the Astros’ Minute Maid Park. I guess when I was younger the myth of the Green Monster and my small stature made the wall seem bigger than it actually was.
