I’m not gonna lie: scouring the BC website for something hidden in that maze of web pages that is BC's official website did not look like much fun. I had no idea what I was looking for, I had plenty of other things to think about, and I was about to take a nap when I saw it. There on the front of the BC website was a thumbnail shot of a familiar sight on my commute home, a monument whose meaning has eluded me the past month. You see, every morning I catch the Comm. Ave bus from the main gate stop, and as it makes its way to the stop near St. Ignatius and More Hall I see this odd circular shaped ... thing. Completely forgetting about the assignment, I click on the thumbnail to satisfy my own curiosity. Turns out the "thing" is a replica of the labyrinth in the Chartes Cathedral, and a monument to the BC alumni lost in the 9/11 attacks. As I read on in this interesting, unexplored corner of BC's website I find out that the labyrinth was a popular medieval past time for prayer and meditation. There are even instructions on the webpage for 5 types of meditations one can do, along with a friendly set of rules for the labyrinth. The labyrinth is a symbol of God's perfect masterpiece, the universe. After exploring this website, I want to give this labyrinth a try. So you know where to find me if I'm not in English class today.
