Cambridge Galleria (2)

By Shautae T. | Last Updated: October 13, 2003

This Sunday I took the T to the last stop, which is Lechmere. My intention was to go to Boylston to look around in Chinatown but I ended up missing the stop as I continued to read my book. I really wasn’t upset because now I had the chance to go to the Cambridge Galleria. As everyone knows it was pouring down raining, so I didn’t think a lot of people would be at the mall. I didn’t know where I was going, plus I was by myself so I started to catch an attitude at myself as I stood in the rain looking lost. I had the most dumbfounded expression on my face and I’m surprised anyone didn’t ask me was I lost or looking for something. I stood in one spot for about five minutes and just observed the direction people was walking towards and the direction people was walking from with bags. So, I followed this way. I finally asked a man in his late thirties did he know which way the galleria was and he pointed me in the direction in which I was walking. The first store I came across was Sears. Having no idea of where to go next, I just took the escalator up and found an exit. I found the middle part of the mall where everyone just walks around trying to find out what stores they want to go into. There I sat on one of the benches and watch all of people walk by. Since it was suppose to be a baseball game that day, most of the people had on Red Sox jerseys which I found to be funny since they are going to lose. Buying the jersey was a waste of money if you ask me. I saw kids begging their parents to buy them any and everything that they wanted. I laughed at how the parents just reached in their pockets and gave them the money. That reminded me of how I used to be at a young age. I saw male teenagers trying to talk and get females numbers. This reminded me on New York and how I really miss being there. After a while it was time to do my thing and shop around, which is one of my favorite hobbies. Obtaining more than five bags heavy bags from Best Buy, CVS, Victoria Secret, The Gap, Footlocker, and Guess stores, I was drained walking back to the T from the mall. Because of the rain it was very hard to make it back trying to manage holding bags and the umbrella sturdy. One thing I noticed is that the people here aren’t as polite as I thought they would be. Carrying all of those bags people still wouldn’t hold the door for me. I was shocked! Somehow I handled getting back to Boston college safely though.
